We are Chic By Pig – Czech design brand of „chic“ furniture and accessories to kid’s rooms.
The decision to establish a real brand raised up from 2 paths. First one as a natural embouchure of the activity we do within our architectonic studio (Studio A Architects), where on a daily base we design also the interiors of houses, factories or offices. The second one, for us the most decisive factor, was our first son Jonas for whom we wanted to arrange the best child’s room ever. Together with our goal to bring a society a wider view on existing possibilities how to equip the kid’s rooms, our puzzle was finalized and the birth of Chic By Pig brand agreed. With a birth of a second son, Florian, we were still developing the cathegories of offered products and we widened the range also by products targeted on parents as well - aromatherapy candles, high quality coffee and products that help parents also to "survive" if their children are quite energy dragons like we have.
Our goal is not to “teach” parents how they shall arrange kid’s rooms, we rather put emphasis to design and recommend such furniture and accessories products that though our minimalist style, fit to all parties – i.e. both parents and kids together. We simplify this idea into our famous “Simple but fun.” Also, we want to let parents to come back into their past when they were children full of expectations what everything can be found on the forgotten garrets of their houses – still functional design furniture pieces in where they or their parents grew up – chairs, wardrobes, beds etc. We want to bring back these magical moments, where all the design pieces were not only high quality, hand-made but also were lasting for generations. That is what we want to teach. And that we are quite succesfull, is confrimed also by a variety of design awards worldwide - BigSee Design Awards, Czech Design Awards and German Design Award.
Besides “Simple but fun”, we put emphasis on friendliness to kids and nature, hand in hand with the highest level of safety and material. By furniture we work mainly with oak wood in combination with birch plywood, whereas plywood always offers the customers a unique and non-repeatable design, thus they can be sure that also their design piece will have a unique pattern. By accessories, we use mainly certified materials, like 100% cotton, gold or silver and of course you can be sure by our own design.
And because we also think on parents, we even made something for them, something that almost everyone with children needs, namely coffee. The kind of coffee we love - proper, strong, with thick foam and, above all, not acidic. That's why we couldn't name the coffee otherwise than "Kafe jako prase/Lucky Pig Coffee" that has in czech meaning that something is very cool and strong. That says it all. Of course, there is also stylish porcelain available for coffee, which was developed in cooperation with a traditional Czech porcelain maufacture.
And why Chic By Pig? Since we wanted to show the public that our design products are unique, different, elegant or in other words “chic.” And why we have chosen a “pig?” We love fun, we love rhymes, we love to be different and we believe that for ages, pig brings happiness to people. And what is more in life than happy children and their parents. So, let the families be chic a happy.
